The worlds of Aspenta and Aresia are sister worlds on the same plane of existence, meaning that the sun and the moon on both worlds are the same. The two worlds are so far apart, however, that it’s only possible to travel between them using planar portals, so in that sense the two worlds are two different material planes of existence.

The Feywild and the Shadowfell are reflections of the sister worlds and it is possible to travel between the worlds of Aspenta and Aresia by travelling through the Feywild or the Shadowfell. The Feywild is the plane of faeries and is believed to house the afterlife of the elves in a land known as the Cordell. The Shadowfell is the plane of shadows and is believed to house the dead souls of mortals in the land of Daedaloth, better known as the Land of the Dead, before these souls are sent on to whatever afterlife awaits them. It is from Daedaloth that souls are ripped back into the world and twisted into the undead. Daedaloth in the Shadowfell is the source of such undeads as vampires, death knights, liches, ghosts, and other such intelligent undead whose souls haven’t moved on to their afterlife.

Beyond the material plane and its echoes lies the transitive planes known as the Ethereal Plane, Astral Plane, and Temporal Plane. These planes serve primaily as pathways to travel from one plane to another. The Astral Plane is the realm of thoughts and dreams. The Ethereal Plane is the bordering plane between the material plane and the inner elemental planes. The Temporal Plane is the realm of time and is used to travel back and forth in time. Only the Order of the Moon has been known to successfully enter and leave the Temporal Plane, an order of time mages that fell apart at the end of the Third Age.

the Inner Planes are also known as the elemental planes and consist of the planes of Air, Earth, Fire, and Water, and mix together in what some refer to as the elemental chaos. All of this surrounds the material plane and is the basis of its creation. Legend has it that during the Third Age, some worshiped the Elemental Pantheon, the elementals from the inner planes. At the end of the age, however, elemental forces from the inner planes with powers over time chased out the Elemental Pantheon and forced them to take refuge in the Feywild, Shadowfell, and on the world of Aresia. It is believed that these elemental force now reside on the world of Aspenta and are also the cause of the fall of the Order of the Moon.

The Inner Planes are the raw matter and energy that makes up the multiverse, the Outer Planes provide the direction, thought, and purpose for its construction. These are divine planes, spiritual planes, and godly planes, the home of deities and the afterlife of mortal souls. The Outer Planes consists of the following:

  • The Seven Heavens of Mount Celestia
  • The Twin Paradises of Bytopia
  • The Blessed Fields of Elysium
  • The Wilderness of the Beastlands
  • The Olympian Glades of Arborea
  • The Heroic Domains of Ysgard
  • The Ever-Changing Chaos of Limbo
  • The Windswept Depths of Pandemonium
  • The Infinite Layers of the Abyss
  • The Tarterian Depths of Carceri
  • The Gray Waste of Hades
  • The Bleak Eternity of Gehenna
  • The Nine Hells of Baator
  • The Infinite Battlefield of Acheron
  • The Clockwork Nirvana of Mechanus
  • The Peaceable Kingdoms of Arcadia

The Outlands is the plane between the Outer Planes. It is the plane of neutrality and houses gate-towns connecting to the various Outer Planes as described above. In the center of the Outlands is the Spire and atop this needle-shaped mountain floats the ring-shaped city of Sigil, the City of Doors, which houses endless portals to all the planes in the multiverse.

Demiplanes are extradimensional spaces that come into being by a variety of means and boast their own physical laws. The most famous demiplane is Sagonia, a land of pure good that is said to house the greatest heroes from the Second Age.

The Far Realm is outside the known multiverse, and even though energy has sometimes seeped in from the Far Realm creating alien shapes that defy understandable geometry and biology, it is a realm that is become more and more appealing to warlocks as they learn how to drawn the alien energy from the Far Realm to shape into magic similar to arcane magic.
